The Tale of the Three Brothers
25 Jul
So. Over the July 4th weekend I decided to embark on a new craft-like project. I’d always thought it would be cool to paint a chapter of a book on a wall, but never actually followed through with the vision. Untillllll I decided to ask my mom if she trusted me enough to paint the wall in the stairwell leading to the basement and she said YES. I started drawing lines on July 4th and two weeks later, I had successfully painted the entire chapter of The Tale of the Three Brothers from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on the wall, word for word. I completely guessed as to whether or not it would all fit, and miraculously it fit perfectly, all 20-something pages. I completely ruined my paintbrush, in the end, but I’d say it was worth it! I submitted this to craftgawker, my favorite website everrrr. You should totes check it out. If you wanna “favorite” my post go here. I’d love you forever, because nothing makes me happier than knowing that hundreds of complete strangers appreciate my work

you are awesome! I’m always solidly a potteraholic but I’ve been potter crazy the last couple weeks and just happen to be wearing a deathly hallows shirt as I type haha. the wall looks great!
Thank you so much! I have a Deathly Hallows shirt, too, haha
Wow! I could never have pulled that off without whining and crying a little bit! If your paintbrush was the only fatality I would number this a big success!
I had a mini break down halfway through when I realized I forgot a few words but luckily I had time to fix it. Thanks!
Definitely not a HP fan but DEFINITELY a fan of this! Awesome job!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Wow, that’s really awesome! Wish I had the space and the patience to do something that cool
really love your work!
In-freakin-credible…how much do you charge???
I’m not a Harry Potter fan myself, but I loved the Tale of Three Brothers, and I definitely love the dedication shown in this! It’s really a great idea.
THAT IS CRAZY AWSUM! I love the way it looks. Your effort obviously was worth it.
This is totally awesome! Love it! And kinda want it in my house!
wow! i could learn something from your incredible patience! what a fab result!
Best project ever *—*
It looks amazing!
amazing. just. amazing.
WOW, that looks amazing! Your writing is so neat and even
That is so creative- great job!!!

Oh. My. God.
Seriously.
You are way too cool.
That is fantastic! I’ve got a wall in my living room that needs to be painted why don’t you come over? I also did a Potter-theme decoration for my living room wall LOL. Half of Snapes face in pixels on a 2 x 4 feet canvas. You can see the tutorial here: http://essentialpepper.blogspot.com/2011/07/goodbye-severus-snape-youll-live-on-in.html
Thank you so much! Snape looks AWESOME. I’ve never tried something like that before… maybe this will be my new project
WOW it’s really awesome. Have you Tumblr?
This is fabulous! It looks like this is a cupboard under the stairs–how much more perfect can you get for a HP tribute?!
I am curious, what would you have done if this didn’t fill up the space?
If it didn’t fill up the space, I had planned to continue with the next chapter, but it turned out to be a tight fit!
That must’ve taken some commitment! You never cease to amaze me.
Using a Sharpe woulda worked nicely. It looks good and no paint, paint, dip, paint, paint, dip
love it tho
THIS IS SO AMAZING. Wow. That is dedication!
Very clever! Love how the walls came out!
That is absolutely incredible. Great work
Hey I saw this on tumblr and I just wanted to say that this is fantastic and awesome :] you did an amazing job and I think I may now have to add to my to do list an attempt to paint a chapter of a book on a wall :]
Fantastic. Nice chapter of the book you chose. Wanna do the same thing. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love HP and I love that story! Your work is creative, awesome, and beautiful!
That’s awesome! You have a lot of patience. I did notice that on the right-ish side, the word village was spelled with two i’s rather than two L’s. But it looks great besides!
Thank you! I think it was just the flash from the camera haha although I must say you have a great eye for catching things because it does look like two i’s!
I went to that website & ‘liked’ it. It is a great idea kudos to you! I’ve always thought of doing something like this in a hallway using some of my favorite poetry. I’m going to use big frames & block it as a few pieces of artwork working together. Now it’s sealed.
Thank you so much! That sounds fantastic – I’m sure it will look so great
That is absolutely amazing!
Wow this is seriously so awesome. This makes me want to go write all over my walls now! Thanks for the inspiration!
DO IT! It was so much fun and it makes you appreciate each and every word in a new way. Thanks so much!
Love it. What type of paint did you use?
Wait… Are you telling me you MEMORIZED all of this?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Haha, my memory isn’t that impressive! I had the book open and in front of me the entire time (which explains why it’s now basically ruined, considering it’s covered in paint splatter!).
I love this! I would do something like that, if only I had the patience and talent. I have plenty of ideas, but I am never able do actually do them. I’d probably be too worried that it wouldn’t fit… Good work!
That is CRAZY…awesome. You have more patience than I ever will. Love it.
AWESOME! Really totally HAVE TO do this! Can’t wait to spring when I’m gonna paint my room. This is a must have!
You’re amazing
Thank you! I had a blast painting it, I hope your room turns out fabulously! I’m sure it will
This is very impressive and inspiring. I am now wondering what ‘The Prince’s Tale’ would look like emblazoned on the front of my house!! Are you available for private contracting? LOL Nice job!!
Thank you so much! I had a blast painting it (then again, I was unemployed and very easily amused haha). You should TOTALLY do The Prince’s Tale
Holy crap! This has to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen on the Internet. Ever. Great job!
You’re an inspiration.
seriously so freakin rad!
I find this when scanning the website, I love it very much, you are so great to finish it!
You and this wall are amazing. You must know this.
I love this
what kind of paint brush did you use????? would it work with just a sharpie cause im really bad at writing with a paint brush. i defiantly want to do this though,
A really tiny one. Haha. I’m sure it would work with a sharpie, you might just have to go over it a few times, depending on how dark the sharpie is. Good luck!
This is amazing. I love to read, and I’ve always wanted to somehow display my favourite chapters. I love HP, especially thelast book. THough, personally, I would’ve painted the chapter “the Prince’s Tale” because I’ve always been a Snape fan. Right back to the first book. Even still, You get THREE thumbs up on awesomeness. The Tale of the Three Brothers is a great chapter too
do you think a paint pen would work for this? I’m doing something similar in the entryway of my house.
A permanent marker may work better…
I am so impressed, this is wonderful! I hope J.K. Rowling has heard about this, she should be honored!
